I am going to bed happy tonight. I just feel very filled with love from my children, husband, family and my art. Just am happy.

work in progress...
Here is one more work-in-progress shot (left) and a final shot (right and below) from the figurative I started yesterday morning, worked on through today and completed tonight. There is an earlier photo in my previous post as well. Both of these shots were taken tonight on my easel with a table lamp...which always results in yuck-yuck photos. I will take final pictures tomorrow AM. I am really happy with this piece and really enjoyed my time with it. One thing, and this happens every single time that I take WIP photos... that part of me that wishes I stopped somewhere in between ?? Sure, there are some additional details to the work that result from the additional hours of pouring over the piece, but in looking back, there is a simplicity that is sometimes lost. I also have a tendency to leave my pieces a little unkempt looking as it is, usually when I try to 'finish' them and clean them up a little, I find that I lose some of the interest. I *might* keep working on it. I don't know, it's hard to put into words... and this has been an exceptionally long day. I will just leave my thoughts at that and post a daylight photo of it tomorrow.

She looks absolutely gorgeous~
And I'm so glad you have found a nice balance between art, family and other commitments~ I have yet to find that..
Thank you :) I should say though that I haven't really found a nice balance.... and am not at all hard-pressed to say that a nice balance (when it comes to love for family/love for art) doesn't even exist, really. It's just more like you do the best you can. Expect some good little art runs here and there, and then try not to be too disappointed when it's out of your reach for awhile. The way it goes for me lately, that is :)
Lauren...the piece is beautiful. I know what you mean about the stopping in between stage....I really do like to see work that retains the trace of the "hand" of the maker and the thinking process that goes into building the work....so having things a little unkempt is more interesting to me than when everything is "polished" and pristine. Your work is beautiful and it's very heartwarming to hear that, for a sweet few moments, you experienced a wonderful balance in life....something to hold onto as it is so fragile! Best to you! Patti
Its looking great, always so interesting to see WIP shots... a favourite quote of mine by a certain Paul Gardner is "A painting is never finished, it simply stops in interesting places..."
Glad you had a great family day too!
Patti, thank you! So thrilled to see you here, I really love your work and admire it often on etsy :) Yes seeing the "hand" of the maker, and the thinking process.... both things I find myself drawn to when viewing others work. Thank you for the thoughtful comment!
Carrie, what a great quote! :) Looks like you have been doing some really great things lately, those forest pics are amazing. Love those bendy trees. I have to say, the yawning tree kinda freaks me out a bit. Ha!
Lauren, your work is beautiful and I really don't think you need to worry about striking the balance between a clean and polished looking painting and a loose and free one. I think that balance just comes naturally to you! I love the WIP photos too. They are very telling!
